FROM THE HELM
Welcome to the April 2010 edition of The Dream Begins in Perth!
Being a part of something as exciting as the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships is something that you will remember for your entire life. With the Event set to be three times bigger than the America’s Cup Defence, held in Fremantle in 1987, and four times bigger than the 2012 London Olympic Games Sailing Regatta itself – this is a sporting extravaganza of mammoth proportions.
Perth 2011 has been promoting the Gold Medal Club and I am pleased to say we have many people joining in a bid to support The World Championships. Please see the 'Golden Girls' promotion in this edition and I urge you to join before 30 April.
The team at Perth 2011 has been heavily involved in attracting sponsors and suppliers to the Event. We were delighted to welcome Greensense to our crew this month. Derek Gerrard and his team will work with our Silver Level Sponsor Carbon Conscious to measure and offset our carbon 'footprint' over the next two years. Welcome Greensense.
Perth 2011 also attended the Fremantle Boat Show and hundreds of people dropped into our display to complete volunteer application forms, purchase the trendy Perth 2011 polo or just to learn more about this Olympic qualifying Event.
There are now only 33 weeks to go until the Perth International Regatta (test event) and 87 weeks till the World Championships! With both regattas fast approaching, may I thank you for your ongoing support of Perth 2011 and remind you that The Dream Begins in Perth!
Best wishes,
John Longley AM

ROLLY TASKER’S DREAM - THE AUSTRALIAN SAILING MUSEUM
The Australian Sailing Museum, located in Mandurah (Western Australia), was inspired by one of Australia's best sailors, Rolly Tasker, who made his dream a reality two years ago.
The Australian Sailing Museum offers a fabulous extensive range of nautical displays. Incorporating the Peninsula Art Gallery, Boardwalk Café, Gift Shop and Rolly Tasker Sails Australia, it is a fantastic day out for the sailing enthusiast and for those who wish to experience an 'Australian first'.
With the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships rapidly approaching there is the opportunity for sailors, spectators and those interested in 'all things sailing' to visit the museum to experience Olympic class boat racing, learn about sailing history and to hear about the sporting success of past Australian World and Olympic champions.

Enjoy a Farm Stay
For a great family getaway look no further than a farmstay in Western Australia’s South West. With adorable farm animals and peaceful surroundings there is fun for everyone.
Just three and a half hours drive south of Perth, the Margaret River area is the perfect place to visit. Stay at the Redgate Farmstay or Taunton Farm in their charming cottages and experience life on the farm. Further inland, Bridgetown and Pemberton provide great lodgings and fun for the family. Feeding the animals will keep everyone entertained, while nearby, some of the best wineries and attractions offer something for everyone.
